An LLC is not full protection from personal liability, at least in our state. It's a good buffer but it's not perfect. Insurance does add to the buffer. Folks should definitely talk to an attorney in their area or an organization that aids entrepreneurs, like an incubator. The SBA can also point folks in the right direction.
I should add that in our state, I've seen people get their vendor's license, url, logo etc and then when they go to register their business name with the state, find out that business name is already taken. They've now wasted a bunch of money and time. If folk's go to their state's Secretary of State website, see if there is a checklist of things to do and the order in which to do them.
