👋 Hey, I’m Casandra. I share research-backed business ideas to help you start and grow a business. This is a 🔒 Premium Edition 🔒 of Really Good Business Ideas.

What if you could start a business that sits at the intersection of two huge growing industries worth billions of dollars? That would be a pretty great opportunity, right?

Well, that’s exactly what the pet travel industry is.

The global travel and tourism industry has rapidly recovered since tanking in 2020 and is projected to experience significant revenue growth, reaching $1.06 trillion by 2028.1

Meanwhile, pet ownership has exploded over the last three decades,2 and global pet industry revenue is expected to swell from $320 billion today to nearly $500 billion by 2030.3

And guess what? Pet travel is on the rise, too.

The Opportunity 💰

Three trends converge to create an incredible opportunity at the intersection of the pet and travel industries.

Trend 1: Travel agency services are on the rise.

I bet you thought travel agencies were dead. In fact, travel agency services are growing and are expected to reach $1.28 trillion by 2033.4 Travel agencies did experience a significant decline when online travel booking took off in the early 2000s,5 but they are making a big comeback, particularly with younger generations who have lost interest in DIY travel.

Trend 2: Pet travel is on the rise.

These days, 97% of pet owners consider their pets part of the family, so it’s no surprise pet travel is on the rise.6

53% of global pet owners now travel with their pets, up 19% from a decade ago when only 37% of families traveled with pets. This trend will likely continue as the U.S. pet travel services market grows to $3.73 billion by 2030.7
