Where there is attention, there is the ability to make money. And a lot of our daily attention goes to Instagram. Instagram theme pages are one of the most exciting ways to monetize this attention.
Instagram theme pages have so much potential that Warner Music Group bought a theme page company, IMGM, for $85 million. At the time, IMGM had 14 different theme pages across social platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and Snapchat, meaning each page averaged over $6 million in the acquisition.
What Are Instagram Theme Pages?
Most individuals and businesses have an Instagram page. For example, I have a personal Instagram page where I post about my day-to-day life. Meanwhile, the company that I used to work for, Shopify, also has an Instagram account it uses to promote its brand.
Instagram theme pages are something in between personal and business pages.
Theme pages are accounts that share content in a specific niche and then monetize the niche audience they build. People follow the account for consistent, high-quality content on a topic they like—whether it’s funny, inspiring, educational, or thought-provoking. Typically this content is curated from other Instagram accounts and other social networks (eg. Twitter/X or TikTok) but it doesn’t have to be. It’s possible to create all your own content, although that’s usually a lot more work.
You’re likely familiar with some of the bigger theme pages including @wealth (over 10 million followers) and @fuckjerry (over 16 million followers).
But theme pages don’t need millions of followers to be profitable. For every massive theme page like these, there are thousands of smaller theme pages you would only know about if they focus on a topic you’re interested in.
Remember: where there’s an audience, there’s a way to monetize.
Once an Instagram theme page has enough followers (at least 1,000 engaged followers), there are many ways to turn that attention into revenue.
