Interest in women’s sports has never been higher.

In April, the women’s NCAA basketball final was the most-watched basketball game since 2019, beating even the NBA.1 A week later, the WNBA announced they will add four more teams to the league by 2028. 2 Search interest has never been higher.

The Summer Olympics in Paris were the first to achieve gender parity since women first started competing in the Olympics in 1900.3 Female athletes like Simone Biles, Ilona Maher, and Yaylagul Ramazanova dominated the narrative, and search interest in women at the Olympics surpassed that of men.

In September, sports media brand The GIST announced that it had reached one million subscribers by providing equal coverage to men’s and women’s sports.4

Last month, a Women’s Pro Baseball League was announced. It will debut in 2026 with six teams in the northeastern US.5
